Spring Clean Your Mind…
This is the last part of my Spring cleaning series and possibly the most important part…our mind! I think we forget about tending to our minds and just how important it truly is. When our minds are cluttered it pours out into every other aspect of our lives. We get so busy with our daily lives that our mental well being can take a back seat. So here are a few of my favorite ways to stay sane and focused on what’s important!
1. Journal
I’ve always been a fan of journaling. There is something so therapeutic about writing your thoughts and feelings down on paper especially the ones you feel like you can’t share with anyone else. The other day I was writing and wrote this phrase, “Sometimes I hope that if I keep writing, the answers I’m searching for will show up on the page.” Do you ever feel like that? It’s so true how it works that way! 9 times out of 10 by the time I get done writing I have found the answer I originally sat down searching for. It’s beautiful how writing can have that effect!
2. Me Time
No matter what season of life you are in, make time for you! I know you are busy. I know it can seem impossible to get time alone for some of you, especially some of you busy parents out there. There is something so valuable though about carving out even a few minutes that is just for you. Make that time be about whatever it is that brings you joy. Make it a priority and when you start to do it more regularly you’ll find you are a better friend, a better wife, a better husband, and better parent because of it!
3. Unplug
We all live in the world of social media. We get sucked into the wasted hours of scrolling. I’m so guilty of this! I lose track sometimes of how much time I’ve wasted consumed by what everyone else happen to be doing on social media. Social media has its pros and cons and we could talk all day long about that but I think the most important thing is to remember to take time to unplug, log out, and shutdown. I’ve recently chosen to log out of a few apps so I wouldn’t constantly see each notification and feel like I needed to check it right then and there. It’s been so nice! Don’t get me wrong I love social media and all the good things it has to offer but I think we all can benefit from a break from time to time.
4. To Due Lists
Anyone else a big fan of lists?? I love lists for all things! Some times I look at my week ahead and feel overwhelmed by the number of things that I need to get done. I find that making a list for each day and prioritizing what needs to be done is so helpful. Some times half the battle is just making the list. Once that’s done it’s much easier to accomplish and start checking things off!
What are some ways you declutter your mind? I hope you find the time to spring clean all areas of your life….because Summer is coming! 😉💛
